I'm so frustrated

Ugggggghhhhhh!!!! I'm so freaking frustrated right now. First of all, I have 194 days or so till my wedding and I still don't have a reception venue. I finally got my officiant booked and my ceremony place pretty much booked but that may change based on the reception venue that I get. After all, I can't have my guests driving miles and miles from the ceremony to reception. I really, really want an outdoor ceremony, I mean i'm not very religious and don't belong to any church so that's kinda not an option and did I mention that I really, really want an outdoor ceremony?

Also considering the limited budget, a country club was out of the question. I really want something that says us. The problem is i'm more laid back than my darling FH. I would just as well have a park ceremony and have a picnic after, complete with picnic tables and blankets and bocci and croquet and bar b que and potato salad and the whole works. He on the other hand has all his doctor friends and higher ups who always invite us to these really uppity places, don't get me wrong, I love going but I don't necessarily feel that I have to reciprocate in kind. Unfortunately, he does.

My problem is I live in New York City where everything is so expensive. All I want is an empty hall/ loft/ space to create my own wedding. We've decided that we will get married in Pelham Bay park which is beautiful and the largest park in NYC right in front of the Victory Memorial. I think it's perfect, but that's contingent on getting a reception place within close proximity. If we can't, we may have to change our ceremony site and that would really suck. The problem is I CAN"T FIND ONE. Any and every place that I find wants to give me a completely packaged wedding which I don't want. Is anyone familiar with the Bronx/Manhattan region and know of a place where I can start from a blank slate? I've bought so much crap already and there's no way i'm just pushing all that to a side and allowing someone else to create my day for me.

Can you tell that i'm frustrated? Somebody, anybody help a sister out.
Thanks for allowing me to vent, TTFN (ta ta for now).

HAPPY B'DAY TO ME!!!!!!!

So ladies, i'm 30 again today plus 4. Man, i'm getting old. I had a really good day today not at work though. It was really hectic and it seems like my boss was just trying to get on my last nerve. My darling 2 year old gave me lots of hugs, sloppy kisses and even sloppier cookies for my birthday. I think the cookies had already gone one round with him.

My FMIL has the same birthday as me so my darling FH took us both to dinner at Crab Shanty at City Island. That's a little seafood island close to the Bronx, NY. It's technically the Bronx actually. We had a really good time but it sucks that my birthday is always so friggin cold.

Anyways, TTFN (ta ta for now).

A Few Projects

Remember the goodies I got from Michael's last week, well i've been a busy bee these last few days. I used the white wrapping paper and the teal ribbon to wrap the coasters that I made before. This was their presentation, I thought they needed a little sprucing up

For those of you who don't want to go back to the previous post, I made these myself borrowing the idea from Style Me Pretty. It was a relatively easy project but considering I had to make favors for 80 guests with four per guest, it was a very tedious process and I was very happy when I finished my last coaster. I used the leftover damask to use as a backing for the guest's names. I will print each guest's name on some white card stock and stick it onto the damask backing therefore making a place card and favor in one. Voila!

I also did a semi mock up of my table. Click on the picture to get a better view of it. The dishes, glasses and flatware are all from my home so the actual ones will most likely be different, the centerpiece is my cardbox, (just for trial purposes). The only things really that are going to be used for sure are the tablecloths and the napkins. I really like the look of it and i'm strongly leaning towards a flowerless table. I can't bear the thought of all these flowers dying after my wedding. I'm just silly that way. If I go the stacked box route, they will be a little smaller and shorter than the one shown here.

If I go the flower route, I will do all white roses in aqua vases like the one here. I started with a clear glass vaseand sprayed it with Robins egg spray paint, another one of my Michael's finds. The color looks like Baby blue here but it's actually aqua. This vase is just a small one I had at home, the ones I would use would be bigger and taller.

I think either option will run about $15 per centerpiece, so ladies please tell me what you think about all my projects.

My First Giveaway!

I am really happy to announce MY FIRST GIVEAWAY! When I started this blog, it was from inspiration from Shooting for a $3,000 wedding. I googled "$3,000 wedding" and her blog came up. So thank you PandBwedding. I wanted somewhere to air my views and keep my ideas and projects organised but I never imagined it would be this much fun and generally give me such a good feeling, and for that I want to express my gratitude. Also I have 10 followers now. 10 people who actually pay attention to what I say (or write) who don't even know me. YAY!

Since I have no sponsors and no money (he he), my giveaway has to be something handmade by me. So without further ado, I would like to make one of you lovely ladies a card box. If you go to my previous Cardbox post, you can see my handiwork, although that one was my first attempt and I had lots of issues. I have since been able to really perfect my craft so don't worry, it'll be really pretty.

So this is how you enter, the winner will let me know what their colors and style are. To enter:
1. Become a follower of my blog
2. Blog about this giveaway and post a link to your blog.
Since I'm not on facebook or twitter, these are the only methods of entering. Contest ends January 15th and the winner will be announced on January 16th.

Make sure to leave a way to contact you.
Good luck ladies and TTFN (ta ta for now).

Oh how I love Michael's

Today I made a Michael's run just because I had a day off work hoping that I would maybe find something ( although I didn't know what I was looking for). I also had a 40% coupon off any item so I felt compelled to go. I started from one end of the store and worked my way to the other side. These are the little goodies that I ended up with.

2 rolls of white wrapping paper
6 foam balls for making pomanders
1 can of Krylon "Ocean Breeze" spray paint
1 roll of aqua-ish ribbon, it's really lighter than it looks here
1 pack of cookie sticks
1 pack of glue sticks
1 pack of magnetic letters

I'll let you know what DIY projects they're going to be used for later. Stay tuned.

Don't you just love Michael's? I mean I walked in there and just sighed. Ahhhhhhhh...

Table Linens have Arrived.

They're here, and I'm so excited. It really feels like i'm getting married now. Thanks to the heads-up from Bride on a Budget, I learned about a linen sale from Linen Table Cloths and I decided to check it out. I got 11 round aqua (called turquoise on their site) tablecloths, 11 white satin overlays, 1 white cake table square tablecloth, and 1 rectangular tablecloth for the sweetheart table all for $119, free shipping, no tax. That's unheard of. All the sites I had checked before were so expensive. I was really excited and couldn't wait for them to come, well today they did.

These are the white overlays, still in the plastic and

the aqua polyester ones. I can't wait to do a mock up of my tables.
Did anyone else order from them besides Bride on a Budget and I?

Well, TTFN (ta ta for now).

My E-Ring

Weeeeeeee! So in spite of all the planning i've been doing , I didn't yet have my ring. You see, to be honest I didn't think I needed or even wanted one. I figured we already live together and have a son so we were practically engaged. Anyway, I always saw me wearing only one ring. I love jewelry but I can't stand it on me once I enter the house, so I figured the less the better. We discussed getting married very casually so I didn't think too much of it. So you can imagine my very pleasant amazement when my boo boo got on his knees at his b'day party and proposed in front of his mom, sister and her family, my sister and family and brother and his wife. (It was a small Party).

So without further ado, Ta-Da, I was trying to take the picture for you in a pretty way like in a flower or dish or other great display but it was just not to be. You couldn't even see it so I took it off a website. Ok, ok here it is...

Isn't it to die for. I mean it's just perfect and I tried it with my band and they fit (you guessed it, perfectly).

Forgive the hand, needs a little lotion but focus people, look at the ring. Oh I love it and love him for it. Now that I have it, I couldn't possibly see my finger without it. The band by itself would just not look right. Not on my hand anyway.

Please ladies, tell me what you think. TTFN (ta ta for now).

My Best Friend's Wedding (II)

Remember I told you about my friend's wedding yesterday? Well... where do I start. It was really lovely but sooooo much work went into it since the wedding was planned in only two weeks. You see the thing is she had decided on a 2010 fall wedding but because a host of reasons, they had to push it up, way up. She had one of the those set ups where you get a blank slate and do everything yourself. The church and the reception hall had to be decorated, food stations, cake, gift area, favors, bar and virtually everything in between had to be set up. I got there at about 4:30 pm on Saturday and nothing had been done. We didn't leave until 2pm and still there was so much left to do.

And on top of that, when the cake was being transported, it fell and broke in half. Luckily the bride is a baker and was able to repair it with her little box of tricks, but can you imagine the stress factor? This was a complete DIY wedding and a lot of stuff was done the day of the wedding in spite of the fact that it started at 11am on a Sunday. I am so tired right now and I can imagine how the other helpers feel (and there were many) considering they started long before me.

But i'm happy to report that all's well that ends well and the most important thing is that she woke up in the arms of her husband the next morning and isn't that what really matters?
Here are some pics, I apologize in advance for the quality or lack thereof.

You can kinda see the aisle a little from this one.

This is a glimpse of the front of the church and the alter. you can also see the unity candle lit here. I was so busy trying to coordinate everything that I didn't get a chance to take many pictures but she should get hers back soon so i'll get to see my work in print.

Has anyone done anything like this and if so how did it turn out?
Well as always, TTFN (ta ta for now).

My Best Friend's Wedding

Actually, she's not my best friend but a very good friend is getting married tomorrow and she asked me to help her decorate her reception hall. I'm a bit nervous about this since it's someone else's wedding and I don't want to mess it up. She's admitted that she doesn't really know what she's doing so it kinda all rests on me.
Green Weddings - 4

Her colours are ivory and olive (green). I just hope i'm able to do something that she and her guests will be happy with. I guess this is my test run, considering how much i've blabbed about being a DIY guru. I was just kidding people, I ain't no guru!
Well wish me luck ladies, and as always TTFN (ta ta for now).
